The author & author's style

The author of Catching Fire is Suzanne Collins and she is an American author born August 10th 1962 in Connecticut.

Her career started in 1991 as an author for the kids channel, Nickelodeon. She worked on many different series for Nickelodeon such as Clarissa Explains It All, The Mystery Files of Shelby Woo, Little Bear and Oswald.

She also wrote a lot of books for children. One of them was The Underland Chronicle which became a New York Times best seller. The book was inspired from Alice In Wonderland.

Suzanne Collins became really popular after she released the first book in her first trilogy, The Hunger Games in 2008. All three of the books got a lot of recognition and they became best sellers.

Suzanne Collins style of writing is kind of unusual. The speaking in the book is in present and not past tense.

For example, instead of writing "I ran up the hill as fast as I could" she would write "I run up the hill as fast as I can".

Even though it was an unusual style of writing, I think it is a really addicting way of writing. She knows how to make the reader want to read more.
