Theme

The main theme in the book is survival. Not only trying to survive through the Hunger Games itself, but survival in a daily life is something people on the different districts come across. The Capitol only cares about themselves and they don't care about how the life is on the other districts, if they starve or not, if they need help or not.

Another important theme in the book, I would say is government control. This theme is not only an important theme in this book, but through the whole trilogy. The Capitol establishes new rules in order to control the citizens lives.

Some other themes you come across in the book are love, redemption, obedience and sacrifice.
